Different states call it different things. In New York it's called a Seller's Permit and in California it's
called a Reseller License. Other names for a license or permit for those who buy at wholesale prices and
resell taxable products or services for profit are: Certificate of Authority, Sales Tax License and Resale Certificate.
This state-granted permit also allows in some states for resellers to purchase items at wholesale prices without having to pay sales tax
until the item is resold. Once you receive your permit or license you may also have to enter additional licensing
agreements with certain vendors. In California a reseller's license is granted through the State Franchise Board. If you
plan on flipping a lot of products on eBay, chances are your state will require you to comply with their licensing process.
