Commercial Pest Control Applicators are required under federal law to be
certified by a state program. The American National Pest Management Association
(NPMA) is the lone non-profit trade association that sets standards for pest
control. In New Jersey most workers who are involved
with pesticide application must be licensed as Commercial Pesticide Applicators.
In California the Structural Pest Control Board within the Department of Consumer
Affairs regulates licensure. In Texas the licensing regulator is the Pest Control Service
within the Department of Agriculture.
