In order to use the title of Landscape Architect professionally, one must obtain licensure through
the State Board of Landscape Architects. The licensing process is very complex and detailed for most
states, as the profession demands high level accuracy meeting local codes and public safety.
The agency that accredits graduate and undergraduate educational programs in the industry is the American Society of Landscape
Architects (ASLA). You will need a college degree in Landscape Architecture as well as additional
education, professional experience and several lengthy exams to gain licensure. Coursework required
for the degree includes mathematics, science, engineering, geography, technology and art.
